Jonathan Chennells
Jonathan Chennells trained in finance, and after travelling extensively overseas moved onto The Chase, the old family farm in Eshowe, and is now a third-generation sugar and banana farmer. Having a good eye for the ball, "Jono" represented Zululand at squash and cricket, and was a keen rugby player in his youth! He has chaired numerous farming and other Boards, and has been the Eshowe Community Action Group (ECAG) Treasurer for 15 years, building classrooms for Zulu schools. As a past Rotarian, he has been involved in rural upliftment projects, is fluent in isiZulu and Afrikaans (also studied Ancient Greek but this is no use nowadays!) and is known to be a cross-cultural bridge-builder.
